Additional 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (Adventure Theatre) Information
|
A mission to rid the seas of a monstrous creature becomes a terrifying nightmare when Professor Arronax, Conseil and Ned Land are thrown overboard. The huge marine animal which has haunted the water is no living beast, but a spectacular man-made vessel, and the three men find themselves the helpless prisoners of Captain Nemo. Resigned to their fate, they begin a miraculous journey on the submarine ship which can travel through waters never before explored. For the Professor, at least, this voyage is one he would not have missed for the world.

other reviews dont metion this problem so im mystified. took a lot of effort to get back in but as soon as i deleted the book kindle performance was back to normal. downloaded the book and immediately started to suffer from kindle freeze. it completely locked up my kindle.
random mollusks and nothing more sinister. While the story does drag from time to time, as you read paragraphs about the genus species etc of the plans and animals that the protagonist sees, this is still a totally awesome vivid romp. The only thing that is missing is the lb symbol (or $) for some of the discussions on the value of random things. If you have a kindle grab it. The conversion to kindle has nearly no problems. It feels right at home with its great-grand-children novels in the steam-punk genre. The free kindle version is GREAT because you can look up all the random mollusks and make sure that they are.
Kept me as enthralled the second time around as it did those many years ago when as a young man I couldn't put it down. Verne hit the mark with just the right blend of science and mystery. Like most of us, I read '20,000 Leagues' as a young man. Reading it again refreshed not only my memory of the book, but also revived my memory of adventure, challenge, excitement, and the wonder and possibilities of the unknown.
This book might have been the best book I have ever read.Very adventerous.BEST BOOK EVER.
